Volunteer and Community Service

In keeping with the Governments’ objective to create a caring society by 2020, Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia has implemented concrete strategies to ensure that a caring society exist by 2020 PENYAYANG subscribes to the idea of developing a spirit of volunteerism among Malaysians and to this end PENYAYANG has developed two practical programmes namely

(i) Sahabat Penyayang
Sahabat Penyayang offers interested and committed Malaysians the
opportunity to volunteer their services through PENYAYANG’s activities.

(ii) Kelab Penyayang
​Kelab Penyayang is a Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia initiative
set up in Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia. The Kelab
Penyayang in each University will adopt a charitable organization
closest to its campus for a sustained duration of time. During this
period of time the students will apply what they have learnt in their
respective courses of study to assist the organisations under their
​care in a consistent and efficient manner.

Culture & Heritage

PENYAYANG subscribes to the promotion of Malaysian culture, arts & heritage. In full realization of its constraints and limitations, PENYAYANG will only focus on identified facets of Malaysian culture, ads and heritage at any one time. However, at the same time PENYAYANG will try to support other initiatives at promoting Malaysian culture, arts and heritage in ways which are within its capacity.

Mission
To revive and restore Malaysian culture, arts and heritage to what they
were in their days of glory.

 

Objectives
• To identify facets of Malaysian culture, arts and heritage that can be
promoted and developed.
• To support local initiatives at promoting and developing Malaysian
culture, ads and heritage in possible ways.
• To implement programmes which complement the efforts of the
Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage at promoting and developing
Malaysian culture, ads and heritage.

Health

To provide medical treatment and medicine to the needy and suffering

Objectives
• To serve as a support group at a local hospital.
• To organize and manage volunteers in order to execute effective
patient support programmes.
• To provide relevant support for patients and their families.

PROGRAMMES

Penyayang Pesakit Kanser
Penyayang Pesakit Kanser (PPK) was launched on March 19 2004 at the Putrajaya Hospital. PPK is managed by a committee of selected individuals. It is co-chaired by the Chairman of Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia and the Director of Hospital Putrajaya.

Provision of Chemoports
PENYAYANG pays the cost of a chemoport for patients who require a chemoport to undergo chemotheraphy treatment but cannot afford the cost of the chemoport. Doctors at Putrajaya provide surgical support.

Peer Helpers
A  service is provided by doctors and volunteers at Putrajaya Hospital. These activities are supervised by PPK.

Positive Image Sdn Bhd
PENYAYANG has two center that sells items required by cancer patients at subsidized rate and below market prices.

Lymphedema Workshops and Seminars
PENYAYANG organize workshops and seminars on lymphedema. Currently, PPK offers therapy for patients who have lymphedema.

Education

Mission
To provide financial assistance for further education and to implement
educational programs for the development of underprivileged segments
of society.

Objectives
• To provide financial assistance for deserving individuals for educational purposes.
• To organize and implement appropriate and relevant educational programmes for identified target groups.
• To assist schools achieve academic excellence.

PROGRAMMES

Tadika Tutur
Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia in collaboration with the National University of Malaysia have helped set up a kindergarten to help students with bearing impairment prepare to reintegrate with students in public schools. These students have had a cochlea implant and will learn how to communicate using revolutionary auditory verbal techniques.

Education Fund
An education fund is available for students with special needs (differently able) or individuals who are interested in pursuing a degree specializing in a special needs program.

Seminar and Workshops
Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia ensures that regular seminars and workshops are held for various segments of the community especially in rural constituencies around the country.

Education and Career Fairs
Realizing that there is a need for education and career fairs in rural
areas, Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia strives to organize these fairs
to assist students wishing to pursue a higher education and for those
making career decisions.

Skill Building

Programmes are designed to facilitate the acquisition of appropriate and
relevant skills to enable local residents, both young and old, to pursue
jobs or be self-employed.

Mission
To equip residents with knowledge and skills to ensure that they are
employable or that they can be self-employed.

Objectives
• To build on the interest and inherent skills of local residents to
make them marketable.
• To organize workshops/courses for the building of appropriate and
relevant skills.
• To work with relevant public and private agencies and organizations
to implement skills-building programmes.

PROGRAMMES

Workshops
Regular workshops ore organized at the centre for different target groups for the local community. Batik workshops, cooking demonstrations, floral
arrangement and other skills building programmes have proven to be successful and many in the local community continue to benefit.

Families

Nurturing Productive & Responsible Citizens

Mission
To promote and nurture the development of “Keluarga Bahagia” so as to ensure the development and sustenance of Malaysia as a dynamic and progressive notion.

Objectives
• To promote and instill universal family values.
• To strengthen and enhance human interaction within families and communities.
• To promote the development of wholesome families which will contribute towards the building of a caring society.
• To propagate the importance of the family unit as integral to the sustenance of a dynamic and progressive notion.
